PawPill ("the App") is a pet medication tracker for iPhone built with privacy as a core principle. We collect zero personal data. We have no servers. Nothing ever leaves your device. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the App does and does not do with your information on iOS.
PawPill does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Specifically:
All data you enter in PawPill (pet profiles, medication courses, dose logs, and progress notes) is stored only on your device using Apple's on-device database technology (SwiftData, backed by SQLite). This data:
App preferences (such as your name, app-lock setting, and game settings) are stored
locally in the standard iOS preferences store (UserDefaults). Photos you
attach are saved to the App's private file storage — never to your Photo Library.
The App requests access to your camera solely for optional features — scanning a prescription label to auto-fill medication details, and adding photos to your pet's progress notes. Images captured for the scanning feature are processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework and are never uploaded.
The App requests access to your photo library only when you choose to attach an existing photo to a prescription scan or a progress note. Selected photos are copied into the App's private storage and are never transmitted off your device.
The App offers an optional app lock that uses Face ID or Touch ID so that only you can open the App and view your pet's health data. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS — PawPill never receives, sees, or stores your biometric data. Only a simple success/failure result is returned to the App.
The App requests permission to send notifications in order to deliver medication dose reminders. Notifications are generated entirely on-device based on the schedules you set, using local notifications. No notification content is transmitted to any external service.
The App uses background processing (via iOS's Background Task scheduler) only to re-schedule your local dose reminders so they continue to fire at the correct times. This runs entirely on-device and involves no data collection or network activity.
PawPill includes an optional, user-initiated export feature that bundles your data into a single file so you can save it or transfer it yourself (for example, via the iOS share sheet). This file is created only when you choose to export, and you control where it goes. PawPill does not automatically upload or share it.
If you have enabled encrypted device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) in your iOS settings, App data may be included in those backups under your own Apple account and settings. This is governed by Apple's standard device backup behavior and your device configuration, not by PawPill.
All data stored by PawPill remains on your device for as long as the App is installed. We do not retain any data on external servers because no data is ever sent to us. Data persists until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App.
You can delete your data at any time:
Since we hold no data on external servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
PawPill uses only Apple's on-device frameworks for its features:
No analytics tools, advertising networks, or data-collecting third-party SDKs are integrated.
PawPill is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since no data is collected from any user, this is inherently satisfied.
If we update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
