1. Overview
PawPill ("the App") is a pet medication tracker built with privacy as a core principle. We collect zero personal data. We have no servers. Nothing ever leaves your device. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the App does and does not do with your information.
2. Information We Collect Nothing
PawPill does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Specifically:
- No account or sign-up is required.
- No names, email addresses, or contact details are collected.
- No pet health data is sent to any server or third party.
- No usage analytics or crash reporting is sent off-device.
- No advertising identifiers are used.
- No location data is collected.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
All data you enter in PawPill (pet profiles, medication schedules, dose logs) is stored only on your device using Android's local Room database (SQLite). This data:
- Never leaves your device.
- Is not backed up to any cloud service (backups are disabled).
- Is only accessible by the PawPill app itself.
4. Camera Permission
The App requests access to your camera solely for the optional OCR feature — scanning a prescription label to auto-fill medication details. Images captured for this purpose are processed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit and are never uploaded or stored permanently.
5. Notification Permission
The App requests permission to send notifications in order to deliver medication dose reminders. Notifications are generated entirely on-device based on the schedules you set. No notification content is transmitted to any external service.
6. Exact Alarm & Battery Permissions
The App uses exact alarm permissions so that medication reminders fire at the precise time you scheduled — not approximately. The battery optimization exemption ensures reminders are not deferred by Android's power management. Neither permission involves any data collection.
7. Data Retention
All data stored by PawPill remains on your device for as long as the App is installed. We do not retain any data on external servers because no data is ever sent to us. Data on your device persists until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App.
8. Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time in the following ways:
- Delete individual records — swipe to delete medications, pets, or dose logs within the App.
- Delete all data — go to your device Settings → Apps → PawPill → Storage → Clear Data. This permanently removes all App data from your device.
- Uninstall the App — uninstalling PawPill permanently deletes all data stored by the App on your device. There is no data stored elsewhere to delete.
Since we hold no data on external servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
9. Third-Party Services
PawPill uses the following on-device library for OCR functionality:
- Google ML Kit Text Recognition — runs entirely on-device. No data is sent to Google as a result of using this feature. See Google ML Kit Terms.
No other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising networks are integrated.
10. Children's Privacy
PawPill is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since no data is collected from any user, this is inherently satisfied.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
